ASA Wright Nature Center

The ASA Wright Nature Center is a top birdwatching spot in the Caribbean. Grab your binoculars and go ahead! On a fine day, you can see up to 159 different species of birds here. The park also instructs one how to appreciate the diversity of the island's flora and fauna.

Nestled on the slopes of the Northern Range of the island of Trinidad, this 720-acre nature center has quietly carved a niche for itself over the past 31 years, long before the word "eco-tourism" was even coined! The magnetic charm of these islands has undeniably been enhanced by the efforts of this nature center.

The center has a lodging areas, plus a scientific research station located in the Arima Valley of the Northern Range in Trinidad and Tobago. About 1,300 feet up the slopes, Asa Wright overlooks the steep valley of the Arima River. At the base of the valley, about 10 miles away, is the historic town of Arima. This is a 90-minute scenic drive from the nation's capital, Port of Spain.

The lodge area has a big patio where you can sit back and sip some freshly brewed "Lodge Coffee" and relish the sights and sounds of birds chirping on the trees or flying overhead. If you want more, hire a professional guide and go hiking in search of rare birds and animals.
