Banos

Banos is a wonderful Andean village and the starting point for exploring the stunning Ecuadorian outdoors. First time visiotrs will fall in love with its small-town atmosphere. From the tiny village, it's possible to take out tours to the breathtaking snowcapped volcanoes and beautiful thermal springs.

Over the years, Banos has emerged as a smorgasbord of adventure sports such as trekking, horse-trekking, canoing, mountain climbing and mountain biking. The town is a sanctuary of peace and tranquility. The occasional traditional Andes produce fair and the English-spoken film shown nightly in the movie theater are the only big events here!

One of the main attractions here is the smoke and ashes spewing from the Tungurahua crater, producing ghostly shapes and presenting incandescent shows on the horizon. Around Banos , there are 57 waterfalls and you must otur some of them. The "Virgin's Fall" is a unique case in Ecuador of a waterfall within city limits. "Pailon del Diablo" or "Rio Verde" is undeniably the most impressive one, falling from a height of over 100 meters. No wonder, it's considered as one of the ten main waterfalls falls in the world.
