Buck Island Reef National Monument

If you admire the sea, you'll fall in love with Buck Island Reef! Visit this natural paradise and bask in the beauty of one of Caribbean's best marine gardens. Whether you're a novice or an expert, you'll have plenty of fun snorkeling through famous underwater trail at the eastern most point of the Buck Island's Reef.

Buck Island's underwater beauty is beautifully comlpemented by its bewitching overland nature trail and white coral sand beaches. Swim in the crystal clear waters, go snorkeling, enjoy scuba diving or just taking a hike through the island's native flora and fauna. There's so much to do! However, be careful not to touch the reef or do any harm. Also, it's always advisable to avoid contacts with any unknown marine life.

Buck Island Reef National Monument was established per a Presidential proclamation in 1961. Today, this 176-acre island and the surrounding coral reef ecosystem support a tremendous variety of marine life, native flora and fauna and several endangered species such as hawksbill turtles and brown pelicans. The elkhorn coral barrier reef that surrounds two-thirds of the island has extraordinary coral formations, deep grottoes, abundant reef fishes, sea fans and gorgonians.
