Gambia Locations......

One of the smallest country in West Africa, Gambia is a vivid, beautiful land bordered by Senegal in the north, east and south and by the Atlantic Ocean on the west. Although small the country is a scenically varied due to natural wonders that include lush forests, sandy beaches, marshes and Savannah's too. River Gambia, one of great waterways in Africa, dominates the country. The area surrounding the river saw the rise and fall of many great empires in Africa. The Europeans too, contested to gain supremacy over the river as it paved way for the trade and commerce during that period. Eventually, the British were successful in gaining control of the lowest reaches, establishing an enclave around French territories of Senegal and a useful base from which they used to launch attacks on French. Today, Gambia is surrounded by French speaking countries, but British influence can be observed throughout the country.

While the park reserves and the up-country villages are a hit amongst the eco-tourist, the golden beaches, resorts and the tropical climate also draws a number of them to this vacationers' paradise. Besides this, another major draw is the wide variety of bird species (over 540) that flock here. Gambia's capital city, buzzes with tourists activities and has some good hotels, restaurants, lively nightlife and possibly everything that you need for a perfect vacation!

Fort Bullen
