The landscape in Honduras is a fantastic mix of lowlands and fertile valleys and, indeed, ports like La Ceiba looks to tourism as a future industry. There are good budget hotels as well as expensive beach resorts. Trujillo was once a thriving port, with a fascinating pirate history.

You will find a variety of cultures, especially on the coast, which is a marvelous blend of Latino Honduran, Jamaican and other Caribbean cultures. Major tourist spots in Honduras include the beautiful Bay Islands and the three large islands of Utila, Roatán and Guanaja. The Mosquitia or Mosquito Coast is a large rainforest that dominates Honduras' northeastern corner along the Caribbean Coast. This forested, swampy section of Honduras is rich in flora and wildlife.
