Mali Locations......

A country with stunning landscapes, mud-buildings from mosques to granaries decorated in an unique artistic style and the calm and relaxed people, Mali has every good reason to make you visit this West African country. Although it is one of the poorest nations in the world, but its fascinating cultural sites and the fabled city of Timbuktu (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), makes it an impressive destination. Mali shares its borders with other African countries including; Algeria in the north and northwest, Burkina Fasso and Ivory Coast in the south, Niger in the east and south, Guinea to the southwest, Senegal to the west and Mauritania to the west and northwest. Bamako is the lively capital of Mali, it is largely popular for good markets, friendly people and a laid back atmosphere.

The most interesting region in Mali is Mopti, a city spread over three islands and sits at the confluence of the Niger River and the Bani River. Mopti is largely inhabited by the Fulani traders, which make it an interesting market town, where you will find plenty of souvenirs to shop for, you can buy leather goods, masks, jewelery, amber and the intricately woven Fulani wedding blankets are a must. While you are at Mopti, don't miss the mosque in Djenne, the largest brick mud mosque in the world. A trip to Mali will provide you an interesting insight into the native cultures and will give you great memories to cherish about!
