Nigeria Locations......

Situated at the extreme inner corner of the Gulf of Guinea, Nigeria is an important West African country. Nigeria shares its borders with Cameroon in the East, Chad, and Niger in the North and Benin in the West. Filled with geographically distinct landscapes, the country has a long coastline with a belt of mangrove swamp forest. Beyond the swamp forest lie the vast stretches of tropical rain forest. The country then rises to a plateau at a general elevation of 2,000 ft, but reaching 6,000 ft to the east, and the vegetation changes from woodland to savanna. The Niger, the third largest river in Africa, runs through the country. It is the diverse landscape that attracts the adventurous traveler. Nigeria also has some fascinating ancient sites.

One of the oil rich nations in the entire region, the country's huge population makes it one world's poorest countries. The population of Nigeria is an intermix of over 250 tribes. The capital of the country is Abuja, but Lagos is the economic hub of the country. The second biggest city, Ibadan, is a vibrant cosmopolitan with a number of interesting places that includes one of the best Golf courses in the country. Kano is one of the most interesting cities of the North. It is a very old center of learning and an important emirate before the British arrived.
