Etosha National Park

One of the finest and important game reserves of Africa, Etosha was proclaimed as a National Park in 1907. Etosha is an interesting game reserve, because its unusual terrain that comprises of a salt pan, grasslands, dense brushes and wide open spaces. The salt pan in the park is a part of Kalahari basin and is believed to have originated 12 million years ago. The park covers an area of more than 22 000 sq kms and is a home to vast variety of species including birds, reptiles, amphibians and some rare antelope species like black faced impala, suni and roan antelope.

The game viewing in the park is a intriguing experience. The best time to visit the park is the May to September, the cooler months in Namibia. Visitors to the park will find three rest camps - s Namutoni, Halali and Okaukuejo, that are managed by the Namibia Wildlife Resorts. Each camp offers great number of facilities for the visitors, some of these include; different grades of accommodation, recreation opportunities, refueling stations and excellent spots for night game viewing. Along with this, there is well- maintained network of roads linking the three campsites. A safari at Etosha is a wonderful experience and certainly tops the list of tourist itinerary!
