Gros Pitons, St Lucia

St. Lucia's strikingly beautiful landscape remains unmatched in the Caribbean. But the twin peaks of Pitons, located near Soufriere, are much more than a mere a testament to this. Soaring up to a height of 3,000 feet, these majestic peaks dominate the western coast of St. Lucia. The mesmerizing views of the lush slopes and the triangular icons rising high with its backdrop of the emerald waters of the Caribbean present pulls visitors to savor the divine beauty.

Beyond aesthetics, the Pitons are an engaging ground for high adventure. Visit the valley of the free people. Situated at the foot of Gros Piton, the community of Fond Gens Libreans have been continuously living here since the 1700s. For hikers, Gros Piton is more accessible, and sanctioned as legal hike. The best way to experience the trails is to take a guided tour.

Pay your fees and hire your guide from the interpretive center in the town of Fond Gens Libre. After a brief about the history of the place and tips on safe climbing, gear up for the ascension! Start early at dawn so that you can come back before it's dark.
