La Laguna Botanical Garden

La Laguna Botanical Garden is the perfect place to relax and unwind away from the bustling urban life. The spectacular garden is nestled at the bottom of an extinct volcano, with its lake being the main attraction for visitors. Situated 8 kms from the Pan American highway, hiring a taxi is the best way to access this park.

With 3,500 species of plants, divided into 32 zones including orchids, medicinal plants, bromeliads, begonias, desert plants, and aquatic plants, plus an abundance of birds and small woodland animals, La Laguna is a sheer delight for the nature lover.

If you love orchids, you must visit the park during March and April when these wild flowers bloom in profusion. There are paved sidewalks that make it ideal for a gentle stroll. An occasional stop by the seating areas alongside the small pools is a perfect way to rest and admire the pristine beauty of the park.

Inside the park, you'll find a scientific research center dedicated to the study of tropical plants. At the entrance, there's a tiny gift shop where you can buy books and keepsakes related to the park. The place is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.
