Museum of the Revolution

Cubans take pride in the Museum of Revolution. Undeniably, this grand building, embellished by the electic design of Maruri and Jean Beleu, is one of the most impressive strutures in Cuba. Visit and marvel at the impeccable decor featuring elements of Spanish, French and German architecture.

Originally designed to house the Provincial Government of Havana, the building was finished in 1920 as the Presidential Palace. It served as the headquarters of the Cuban government for 40 years. On a visit to this museum, you'll see plenty of interesting exhibits encompassig the period since Cuba became a nation till the present day.

The documents, photographs and artifacts provide a fascinating window to the Cuban Revolution. The "Granma" Memorial is one of the most exciting displays here. This is where you'll see the ship used by Fidel Castro and more than eighty combatants to return to Cuba from their exile in Mexico. The ship is encased in an enormous glass display.

Outside the museum, there's a watch tower that was part of the old city walls, as well as a tank used by Fidel Castro during the battle of the Bay of Pigs in 1961. Check these, too!
