National Rain Forest

Spreading over the 19,000 acres lush green mountains and valleys, St. Lucidia beckons visitors with its splendid natural charm. The park area was once inhabited by the Arawak tribes and has taken a considerably long time for these forests to come to its current state. Today, it's a smorgasbord of activity for bird watchers and hikers.

Bask in the beauty of exotic flowers, fruits and indigenous trees as you hike through the wild pathways and duck down the undergrowths of giant ferns. There are tiny bromeliads and orchids all the way. Adventurers are thrilled at occasional sights of the brightly-hued St. Lucia Parrot, the white-breasted Thrasher, and the swarms of humming birds nesting on the tall trees.

Don't forget your binoculars on your trip to the National Rainforest bcause you won't want to miss a sight of St. Lucia's national bird, the Amazona Versicolor or the Jacquot. Outside the preserve, scour the local craft markets for souvenirs and unique keepsakes. From baskets, woven from climbing foot palms and aralie to beautiful necklaces made from colorful dédéfouden seeds, there are plenty of things to choose from.
