Playa Tamarindo, Guanacaste

Known as 'playas' in Spanish, Costa Rica's beaches are often regarded as the most idyllic and beautiful sandscapes in the world. Playa Tamarindo's claim to fame rests on its tourist-friendly environment, and most importantly the soft sands, emerald blue waters, superb natural surroundings and near perfect weather.

The Tamarindo coast invites you with plenty of recreational activities. From surfing, scuba diving, boogie boarding and jet skiing to sailing, kayaking and horseback riding, there are endless options to thrill your senses.

No wonder, Tamarindo is among the most popular vacation destinations in Costa Rica. Part of a bay formed by cape Cabo Velas, Tamarindo's surrounding region is blessed with a diverse landscape featuring flat lands and picturesque green mountains. The natural wonders of this region are so astonishing that, for a moment, you'll forget the world you've left behind once you have crossed the threshold into nature's playground!

This is also probably the most accessible beach town on the entire northern Pacific Coast. One should also visit the visit the nearby wildlife refuge of Diria as well as the Marino Las Baulas National Park, where leatherback turtles come every summer to nest and breed. You'll agree that Tamarindo is one of the best places to relax and have fun in the sun!
