Rio Camuy Cave Park

Away from beautiful beaches and bustling market streets of Puerto Rico, the Rio Camuy caves have baffled visitors for a long time. Descending deep into the earth and existing from millions of years, these caves are a geologically important site for the native people.

Explore the three crater-like sinkholes and the two caves of this massive system. Take the trolley that goes into a sinkhole lined with dense tropical vegetation. The guide will describe every sight on the way. After a walk across ramps and bridges and through the dramatically illuminated, 170-foot high Cueva Clara, another tram will shuttle you to a platform overlooking the 400 foot deep Tres Pueblos Sinkhole. It's a lifetime experience for sure!

This 268-acre park area is among the three biggest cave systems in the world. However, Río Camuy is the only one to have a tropical underground river thundering through it!

The park area is a spelndid site to enjoy a day out with the family. Track down the walking trails or relax in the picnic areas that offer plenty of eating facilities. There's a theater where you can watch exciting shows. If you're looking for keepsakes, the souvenir shop is a good stop. The park is usually open Wednesday through Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm. The last tour departs at 3:30 pm.
