Skeleton Coast Park

The ghostly coast, stretching over a area is truly a strange experience. Lying in desolation at the most inaccessible corners of the globe, the skeleton coast is an place beyond your imagination. The park is named so, because of the deadly skeletons that lay in the spooky desert shore alone with the shipwrecks that were once inhabited by the sailors, unless they were thrown here by the mighty storms. According to the stories, the sailors walking for hundreds of kilometers through this barren Namibian landscape died in search of food and water. The landscape of the coast consists of sand dunes, canyons and mountain ranges and the climate is seemingly strange.

Only the Southern part of the coast can be visited on a 4-wheel drive Safari but it is forbidden to venture beyond a certain limit. But, for those who want to visit the entire area, the best way is to take a fly-in safari. The primary wildlife attraction of the park is Cape Cross - a seal colony where you will see thousands of seals bathing in the sun drenched coast. Moreover, the dunes here are full of reptiles which include; spiders, wasps and snakes. For those who are fortunate, may also come across the rare bird species.
