Yankari National Park

Yankari is one of the best places to observe the Nigerian wildlife. Located in the south-central part of Bauchi State, in northeastern Nigeria, Yankari National Park is the biggest National Park in the entire country, covering an area of 2,250.10 sq km. This national park is home to 50 species of wild animals that include elephants, hippos, hartebeests, baboons and some varieties of birds too. You will also find several plant and fish varieties in the park area.

Moving further inside the park, you will come across natural formations such as the Marshall Cave Systems and the Wikki Springs. The Wikki River provides cool and clear natural swimming facilities for visitors. Yankari Park contains several archaeological preserves as well; these include the Dukkey Well System and the Ampara and Shanshau iron smelting works and furnace shafts dating back many centuries. The park offers a wide variety of accommodations for visitors, from hostels to luxury hotels!
